Attachment of Hazrat Abu Bakr (Radiyallahu Anhu) to the Quran

This description of Hazrat Abu Bakr (Radiyallahu Anhu) by Ibnud Daghina conforms to the description of Rasulullah (ﷺ) by Hazrat Khadijah (Radiyallahu Anha) given to comfort him at the time when the first Wahi descended.
He continues, “I will protect you. Return and worship your Rabb in your own land.” So Hazrat Abu Bakr (Radiyallahu Anhu) returned to Makkah Mukarramah with Ibnud Daghinah. Ibnud Daghinah then went to the leaders of the Quraish and said, “The likes of Abu Bakr cannot leave or be compelled to leave. Can you expel a man who provides for the needy, is kind to family members, lifts the burden of people, is hospitable to the guest and assists others in their affairs?”

So the leaders of the Quraish accepted Ibnud Daghina’s guarantee of protection, but they said to him, “Instruct Abu Bakr to worship his Rabb in his home by praying and reciting whatever he desires. But he should not harm us with those actions or worship outside his house because we fear that he may negatively influence our women and children.” Ibnud Daghina conveyed their request to Hazrat Abu Bakr (Radiyallahu Anhu) who then began to worship Allah in his home. He did not make Salah or recite Quran in public. He then decided to build a Masjid in the courtyard of his home where he would make Salah and recite Quran. The disbelieving women and children began gathering around him and were impressed by him. Hazrat Abu Bakr (Radiyallahu Anhu) was a man who cried frequently and he could not hold back tears when reciting Quran. This caused the leaders of the Quraish to panic. They called Ibnud Daghina to complain. We accepted your protection for Abu Bakr on condition that he worships Allah within his house. He has violated this and built a Masjid in the courtyard and is now making Salah openly. We fear that he may negatively influence our women and children. If you wish you may make him go back to his house and worship Allah in his house. If he refuses, then you should take back your protection. Because we do not wish to break your pledge

Ibnud Daghina then back to Hazrat Abu Bakr (Radiyallahu Anhu) and presented to him the proposal of the Quraish Hazrat Abu Bakr (Radiyallahu Anhu) said, “I return your safety and I am pleased with the protection of Allah.” (Bukhari and Al Bidayah wan Nihayah)
